abstract dresses and ballet
Hello there. I just uploaded a few pictures that I've had for about a week or so. Blaaaah. The first ones are of zines and such because I got them from the TEENGRRRL shop on Etsy, owned by the lovely Whitney Billings.
OHMYGOSH SHE AND HER ZINES ARE SO AMAZING. I read them all in one sitting and they were by far the best zines that I've ever read. I'm fangirling so much right now, I know, but you seriously need to go and buy her zines. Her art is amazing, and everything about the zines are just amazing-her story is definitely one that should be heard by many.
This was in there! BEETLEJUICE! OH HOW I LOVE YOU! I've never seen the cartoon version, just the movie, but I still love Beetlejuice in any shape or form.
Back view of it.
These are a handful of really great headbands that I've acquired over the past week. The white and blue striped one is from a store that I went to in Manhattan called Yellow Moon, and all the others (I took individual pictures but there were so many I decided not to shove them all in one post) are from a trip to Coney Island. I went to the beach and on the way back, there was this really cool section where there were a bunch of vendors selling different things-a mini fair, I guess- and I saw them and ermygash they're so worth fawning over. (One of them reminds me of a birthday cake, which probably had something to do with the fact that I bought it.)
I'm wearing my ballet slippers because honestly, I was practicing before and didn't feel like taking them off and putting on normal shoes. Also because I thought they looked quite good with everything else.
My feet are scary-ish here. I was...rolling my feet over my toes, but on both feet instead of the usual one? I don't know. It hurt terribly, don't try it unless you want to break your toes. (If you do, then by all means, you should definitely do this.)
I'm lurking behind the ladder. I don't particularly like my face here, but this was the only picture of me being a ladder lurker so of course I had to include it.
I didn't plan the outfit for this post, I just happened to be wearing it and thought it looked cool, like an abstract painting on a dress.

feel free to enjoy this note and a random picture
Hello, oh fellow people of the blogosphere. I'm going to be sort of busy this week doing different things for SPARK and there are so many awesome things pertaining to that fact but I'm going to leave you hanging in suspenssssse-that was a horrible attempt at being dramatic-until after they happen even though everything is practically bursting out of me. I'm going to try to schedule some posts in case I won't be able to blog a lot this week. There'll be one for every day of this week. I'll start when I get home (I'm at the library right now).

enid and becky and seymour
I am in love with Ghost World. I've always heard about it, and from seeing bits of the book online, I realize that I read it before, but that was when I was 9 or 10 and just picked up random books to read with comics inside. But now I need to reread it because the movie stole my heart.

The movie is sort of different from the book, but the basic gist of it is this: Enid (the one with the short black bob, played by Thora Birch) and Becky (the blonde one, played by Scarlett Johansson) have just graduated high school and are trying to figure out what to do with their lives. They slowly drift away from each other and begin to have separate lives.

Stay tuned for a Ghost World inspired outfit! (It's midnight right now, and I'm too tired to set up my tripod and makr an outfit like Enid's.)

They slowly drift away from each other and begin to have separate lives.

At the beginning of the movie, there's an ad in the paper that Enid and Becky see from a guy named Seymour who's looking for a woman that he met in an airport. They decide to call him, pretend to be her, and basically ask him to show up to a certain restaurant. He arrives for the "date", and waits for a long time before realizing that no one is coming to meet him. He leaves and sits in his car for a bit, screaming and cursing and basically just being mad and angst and stuff. Enid feels bad and follows him to his apartment building, where she comes back to with Becky. The next time they go, she meets Seymour, which leads to a relationship-I would say friendship, but it was much deeper than that-that lasts throughout the movie.

How awesome is this mask? She bought it in a sex shop that she convince Seymour to take her to-seen in the 6th picture-and it's SO. AMAZING. I need one like that.

Re: i am not a robot
I'm trying to avoid being a blogger that has to apologize for being horribly inconsistent, so I'm going to instead AVOID that step and focus on the bright side, which is that I only missed a day of blogging! Yay! Yay? Erlack. But to make up for it, I've included the "robots are scary"-ness that I promised you. Because what would this universe be without scary robots?

Okay, fine, it's not that scary. I bet some people even think it's cute. And it's actually not scary, it's just...creepy. Put it this way: how would you react if you woke up and this was in front of your face? Ooor if an entire army of this was outside of your window? I thought so.

This would be better to see. Actually, would it be worse? You decide. I wouldn't mind having an Elvis Presley robot. Actually, the fact is still annoyingly creepy so I would mind.
Expect a fall vibes post (actually, several fall vibes posts) soon. "A fall vibes post in July?" you may be asking. Well, stores are are annoying that way. We're still in the summer and school supplies are still out. So now I'm thinking about school and the fall and fall vibes are shoving summer out of my head. So blame THOSE STORE FOR MY INFLICTION OF FALL VIBES OBSESSION. BLAME. THEM.
I have so much word vomit (synonymous to glitter puke, but with less glitter and more words) but it's currently 12:42 A.M. (ignore the time on my posts, it's surprisingly wrong) and I'm pretty tired so I'll save it for another time. But it has to do with my new-found love of Ghost World since I finally got to watch it on Sunday. And since anything that has to do with Enid and Becky is bound to be amazing, expect amazingosity.

i am not a robot
So I just finished watching "I, Robot"-which is based on the book by Issac Asimov-for about the billionth time, and now the terms "space age", "robot-y", and "robots are scary" come to mind. I found a ton of editorials and things focusing on everything that I was thinking of (even the "robots are scary" part, but I decided to save that one for tomorrow so you wouldn't be overwhelmed by all the pictures).

(These first four pictures remind me of Marina Diamandis from Marina and the Diamonds)

Photo credits to Trend Hunter. The last 5 pictures came up in a Google search with the term "space age fashion".
